- The exact time, place and magnitude of an earthquake cannot be predicted accurately.
- Scientists can identify earthquake-prone regions by studying plate boundaries, faults, past earthquakes and seismic activity.
- Such identification helps in disaster preparedness, safer construction and reducing the loss of life and property.
